By 2026, AI homework tools fall into four rough buckets: general-purpose chatbots that students copy-paste questions into, math-only calculators with their own input editors, search-based Q&A databases that match your question to ones other students asked, and LMS-native browser extensions that read the question directly from the LMS DOM and auto-fill the answer.
Each category has different strengths. General chatbots are best for explanation. Math calculators are best for math on paper. Q&A databases are best for textbook problems. LMS-native solvers are best for in-LMS exams where copy-paste is friction or detection risk.
