What is Safe Exam Browser?

Also known as: SEB

Safe Exam Browser is developed by ETH Zurich and used worldwide for proctored Moodle exams. It's free and open source, which is why universities running Moodle deploy it more often than Respondus LockDown.

Like LockDown, SEB disables Chrome extensions, kills the clipboard, and prevents alt-tabbing out of the exam. Because SEB is configured per-exam by the instructor, some SEB exams allow extensions and some don't — the test instructions are the authority.
