IXL grades practice with SmartScore, a 0-to-100 mastery score that IXL is explicit is not a percentage. Correct answers push it up; wrong answers pull it down — and the drop from a miss is larger than the gain from a hit, especially in the Challenge Zone from 90 to 100, where one careless mistake can wipe out several questions of progress.
